Recursion is something that is repeated over, and over again. In my case, my recursive image is repeated over and over again. This gives it the affect that it is repeated an infinite amount of
times.

Underwater Scratch Skit!
For my scratch project I used lots of repeats, sounds, and motions to create the skit I wanted. To make sure that the shark was always headed for the fish, I had to program it to do so. Lastly, at first I had the bubbles sound to make it seem like we were underwater, but then it changes to suspenseful music because the shark is headed towards the fish.Monday, April 25, 2016
LightBot
The way I determined the solution to the problem was by actually handwriting each problem. When I created an algorithm for the problem, it became much easier because I was able to follow along instead of turning my computer every time the light bot turned. I found that having an algorithm to follow made it a much more efficient process.

Why can't people be kind?
Canva was an interesting, fun, and pretty way to inform the reader of an engaging topic. I found at times some of their "useful" tools were not in fact useful. When trying to use one of their graphs I found that I couldn't edit the percentages on any of the graphs, so I resorted to just placing the percents in a larger appealing font. Although it was easy to just place images and text boxes with facts anywhere you please, it was a bit of a challenge to make everything appealing to one's eyes. The layout of the infographic was hard to work with because it was long and skinny, causing it to be a pin to constantly rearrange each and every text box, image, and icon.
For the background, I chose a circular pattern because the phrase "In the loop" is constantly used in reference to social media. Social media is a very easy place to cyber bully someone because on some social media accounts you can cyber bully anonymously. If you aren't "In the loop," then you're probably excluded from a group of people. Cyberbullying is looked over because it's online and teachers and parents can't see that it's actually happening. Cyberbullying is very prominent in our generation because we all have social media accounts and cell phones, too.
For the colors on my infographic, I chose purple, a minty green, and white. I thought that these colors would help make some areas of the infographic be more subtle and others to pop and stand out. For example, I put a mint colored oval around my percentages because it makes them stand out from the purple background. Rather than choosing a royal purple which represents vanity, I chose a darker, purple because it represents sadness. The more important information was circled in mint green or in between two mint green lines. I did this because I wanted the information to pop off the purple background.
For the title at the top of the page I chose to do a font that was curly because I thought this represented font represents the idea of innocence. Because this font is pretty and curly it could be easily overlooked just like cyberbullying. That is why I chose to do this younger looking font for my title. Until you reach the bottom of the page, the rest of the text is in a legible font because these facts are important and need to be clear. At the bottom, I chose to do two different fonts because one of the quotes relates to males, and the other quote relates to females. I chose to use block letters for the quote referring to boys because I thought that this style would represent a more masculine look. For the quote about girls, I chose to use a prettier and curlier font because this font represents the girls in a more feminine way.

One semester down, 7 more to go...
Throughout the entire first semester, I tried multiple study skills and finally found one that worked. First I tried quizlet, and it worked for a few subjects such as French, Theatre History, and English, but when I actually used real notecards I found i understood the material better. I found that writing down the material helped me learn it where as on quizlet I would just type words aimlessly without knowing what they actually meant. With subjects like math and physics it's slightly harder to make notecards for the tests, so I would usually print out old homework's and really engrave what we had learned into my brain. These tactics seemed to work very well for me throughout this first semester, so I'm going to continue using them in the second semester.
The project that I'm most proud of is a project we did in my Theatre History class. We had to draw a character in costume from the play Tartuffe. I chose to do a character whose name is Elmire. Because this play was written in the baroque time period, most articles of clothing and accessories were overdone. I spent a long time working on the lace detail I put on the dress, but it was all worth it in the end. For me, it's really satisfying to know that you have done a nice job on a project, and that you, yourself are proud of what you have accomplished. I'm proud of this project because I spent a lot of time and effort trying to make it the best it could, and I got great end results.
One thing that didn't help me achieve the results I wanted
was just looking over the material, not actually writing
anything down. For a couple of quizzes this first semester
I figured I would be fine if I just looked over the material.
I was wrong, I should've practiced what was actually going
to be on those quizzes, because I could've gotten multiple
points back if I had written down the material I didn't
understand as well. From these experiences, I was able to
figure out that I needed notecards and a quizlet Image credit: cliparts.co/cliparts/6iy/oK8/6iyoK8j5T.gif
account to further my understanding of certain concepts.
This class proved useful to me in a couple of ways such as learning how to organize my email, and learning how to just stay more organized in general. All the organization tips have been extremely useful throughout the first semester, and I will most likely continue to use them in the second semester. Once I sorted through all my emails, I was able to find certain emails faster which was really nice. This class was a great way to get organized while learning about extensions, so I'm excited to see what other great organizing tips there are!
For the second semester I would really like to stick to one study tactic. I'm really liking the written flashcards so I'm going to try to stop using quizlet and start trying to just use written flashcards, because I usually get better end results.

Staying focused with StayFocused!
Staying focused isn't always the easiest thing to do. I'm sure at some point in the night while doing our homework, we all get distracted by some website, whether it be an online game, the news, or if you're like me doing some late night retail therapy. To be honest, while doing my late night shopping, I really don't care what time it is as long as I can escape from doing my homework.
I've been trying out StayFocused for the past couple of days, and I do think it will really help me while studying for midterms. Although I can assure you, it will be hard for me, I know it will be better for me in the future.
What I really liked about StayFocused was that you have to
ability to change how long a site is blocked for. I think that
if you block a site for the amount of time you will be studying,
that will be very effective in the long run. You can also change
when StayFocused is active. It will be helpful to make it so that

Overall, StayFocused was a really interesting extension that I think will end up being very useful. now, I only used this for a couple of days, so I don't know how well this will work during midterms in a few weeks. Judging by what I know now about this extension, it seems like I will be using it quite a lot in the near future.
I do think it will work for most people, because I know a lot of easily distracted people, including myself. If you are someone who is really good about staying on subject, I don't think this extension is really going to be that useful for you. If you are like me though, you will want to use this extension.
